Godz Kidz and Pastor Jesse Joyner brought down the house at the National Theatre in Richmond Virginia, or at least they were the cause of praise during a time of worship to our precious Heavenly Father. Filling a room off the lounge, the kids prepared for their service while the adults filled the main auditorium of ‘The National’. Originally built in 1923, The National became a thriving part of the theater district. After WWII and being sold several times it was slated to be demolished in 1989. It has since been restored by the Historic Richmond Foundation and now serves as a state of the art concert venue. What better setting for a place to worship Christ than where one can remember, share the past, bring life to the present and hope for the future.
As the children found a place to sit, their attention was soon directed to the message I would share with them that morning. Just like ‘The National’ has a plan and a purpose for it’s existence, I wanted each of the children to realize that God has an incredible and perfect plan for each of their lives.
Perhaps my favorite segment of the service was the time we spent acting out the story of Esther and the role she played in saving the jewish people from death. What better venue to share this drama than in a theater rich with history.
Children need to know that they have been fearfully and wonderfully made to serve a perfect God that loves them and has a plan for their lives. If children can realize at an early age their extreme importance to Christ they would lean more toward serving Him and leading a life that is pleasing to Him. This week, help children around you feel valued and loved by the one who IS LOVE.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
