intentionally Reaching Our Community Kids

Who is God?

Who is God? What type of a being is he? We are told that he is a loving God, and that he is just, but what does that really mean? We are constantly telling kids (and people in general) that they need to ask God for forgiveness, and that they should love Jesus, but do they even understand who he is? I often wondered why God created us and what worth we really had. I always thought that God needed us to worship him, but I never understood why. Why would an all powerful god who has always existed and will always exist, need us? And why does he need us to worship him? I never understood why we existed and I never felt truly important (after all there are 7 billion people on earth, if we are all “special,” then none of us are truly special at all, at least that’s how I viewed it) until I understood who God is. God is a being dependent on relationship. He is three in one, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He has always been in relationship, and he thrives on it. But this is where it hit me. God never needed any of us. He’s not some (narcissist) sociopath who needs us to worship him to feel important. God was perfectly awesome without us, and never needed to create us. But he wanted to. Love is his being, it’s who he is, and because of this he wanted to create us so that he could share his love with others. His love, his relationship is the most amazing thing ever to exist, and because of who he is he wanted someone else to experience it. Which is why he made us, he didn’t create us to serve him, or to suffer through life. God created us so that we would get a chance to experience the most awesome thing to ever be, his love, his relationship. It’s important to teach people to love God and to seek him out, but until they realize in their own hearts who God truly is, they won’t want to.

Engage Maryland surrounding area

Maryland offers a wide variety of attractions and things to do with its landscape extending from the seashore (the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean) to the mountains (the Appalachians) to urban areas (Baltimore and the Washington DC suburbs). In one day you can enjoy wonderful scenery and outdoor activities as well as visit museums, historic sites, and cultural events.

We live within minutes of Catoctin Mountain Park. The park is located in Blue Ridge Mountains,  which are part of the larger chain of mountains known as the Appalachain Mountains. Catoctin Mountain Park, along with neighboring Cunningham Falls State Park, Gambrill State Park, and Frederick and Thurmont Watersheds, are part of the area known as Catoctin Mountain.

The mountainous terrain of the park makes for several steep, strenuous trails that offer rewarding views to those that are up to the challenge.

If you are a history buff, we are only 90 minutes from Washington DC, 30 minutes from Historical Gettysburg and 20 minutes from Historical Antietam. Within 40 minutes you can visit Harper’s Ferry National Park and hike to the Maryland Heights Overlook for a magnificent view of the town.

Ski Liberty and Whitetail resorts are within 45 minutes for skiier, snowboarders and snow tubers alike.

The Chesapeake & Ohio Canal (C & O Canal) is a national historic park that dates back to the 18th and 19th centuries. The 184.5-mile towpath extends from Georgetown in Washington, DC to Cumberland, Maryland. Walking or bicycling along the towpath, you can view original structures including locks, lockhouses, and aqueducts. A 25 minute drive will take you to a location you can begin your journey at the Cushwa Basin.

Top Prayer Needs

More Students

As God opens the door to team members within iRock ministries we are constantly aware of college students that He has planned for us.

As students are constantly bombarded with the distractions of life it becomes even more important that they take the time necessary to solidify their relationship with Jesus before entering a crazy world. The summer will allow opportunity to spend quality time with Jesus, develop relationships with other students and engage them in serving the Lord so that they can discover the joy of walking out their faith.

Over the summer we will be involved in 4 kids camps and possibly one out of state mission trip. In between camps we will be developing, designing, creating and praying for each planned camp or trip to share the love and forgiveness of Jesus with others so that together we can be part of kingdom growth.

Pray with us that God will bring the right interns and that they will recognize the need to focus on Jesus before too many distractions draw them away from their Savior.

More Funds

  • To be part of Ability Camp, summer students are required to raise the necessary funds to cover the cost of camp. If you would like to become more familiar with Ability Camp or to become a financial partner, please click here. PRAYER ANSWERED
  • As our ministry grows so must our financial base. As our team members expand year round it is our desire that students would not be financially burdened when making a decision as to whether or not to join our team for a length of time. God is so much bigger than finances and knows our need before even asking. We ask that you share our need with others, knowing that God has specific people ready to give as He leads. click here to donate to iRock Ministries
  • God has sent us Nate Wiles and his family to join our team and with that comes additional fiscal responsibility. Nate is currently seeking support needed to meet his budget. Pray with us that God will prompt the right people to come alongside he and his family and bless them in abundance. If you would like to support them with a one time tax-deductible gift or to set up a monthly giving commitment, please click here.

More Prayer

  • We certainly are unable to move forward without the leading of the Holy Spirit. Pray that He would provide the wisdom and direction that we need to be obedient to His call on our lives.
  • Pray that we fall more and more in love with Him so that we can share even more of His love with others.
  • Pray for Rusty as he builds additional housing for our students.
  • Pray with us that Engage Ministries will approve our application as an additional site where full time students can earn their degree online while engaging in ministry with us throughout the year. PRAYER ANSWERED
